PleinAir™ Japan Itinerary

Day 1 - March 22nd

  • Afternoon - Arrive into Tokyo Airport (Narita or Haneda)
  • ​7pm approx. – Welcome Reception
  • ​Accommodation in Tokyo

Day 2 - March 23rd

  • 8am – Breakfast at Accommodation
  • ​9am – Painting at Shinobazu Pond (Ueno Park) (approx. 15 min transfer)
  • ​12pm – Boxed Lunch
  • ​3pm – Free time for Sight Seeing. Recommended spots Shibuya Crossing, Senso-ji Temple and Ginza District
  • ​6.30pm - Dinner in Tokyo
  • ​Accommodation in Tokyo

Day 3 - March 24th

  • 7am - Breakfast at Accommodation
  • ​9.30am – Painting at Ashikaga Flower Park (approx. 1.5hour transfer each way)
  • ​12.30pm – Boxed Lunch
  • ​3pm – Museum Visit –TNM
  • ​6.30pm - Dinner in Tokyo
  • ​Accommodation in Tokyo

Day 4 - March 25th

  • 8am – Breakfast at Accommodation
  • ​8.30am - Check out of Hotel
  • ​9am – Bullet Train to Kyoto (approx. 2.5hours)
  • ​12pm - Boxed Lunch
  • ​1pm – Visit at Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle
  • ​4.30pm – Evening Painting at Shijo Bridge, Kamo River Sunset estimated approx. 7pm
  • ​8.30pm – Bento Box Dinner
  • ​​Accommodation in Kyoto

Day 5 - March 26th

  • 7am – Breakfast at Accommodation
  • ​8.30am – Painting in Deer Park, Nara (approx. 45minute hour transfer from Hotel)
  • ​11.30am – Boxed Lunch
  • ​1pm – Holbein Paint Tour, Osaka (approx. 45minute transfer from Nara)
  • ​3.30pm –Kyoto National Museum (approx. 1hour transfer from Holbein)
  • ​6.30pm - Dinner in Kyoto
  • ​Accommodation in Kyoto

Day 6 - March 27th

  • 8am – Breakfast at Accommodation
  • ​11am – Painting at Himeji Castle (approx. 2hour transfer each way)
  • ​12pm – Boxed Lunch
  • ​2pm – Finish painting at Himeji Castle
  • ​6.30pm - Dinner in Kyoto
  • ​Accommodation in Kyoto

If guests do not wish to travel to Himeji Castle, they are able to stay in Kyoto for sight seeing or painting. 

Our recommendation for painting is Heian Shrine. 

Our recommendation for sightseeing is the Geisha District or Historic District.

Day 7 - March 28th

  • 9am - Breakfast at accommodation
  • ​10.30am - Toei Studio Park (approx. 20minute transfer)
  • ​- Painting of Film Set
  • - Option to wear Kimonos
  • - Option for Samurai Sword Experience
  • - Private Painting of Geisha Models
  • ​4pm – Return to Hotel
  • ​6.30pm – Dinner
  • ​Accommodation in Kyoto

Please Note: Toei Studio Park and the experiences are yet to be confirmed. The alternative option is painting at Arashiyama River.

Day 8 - March 29th

  • 8am – Breakfast at Accommodation & Check out of Hotel
  • ​9am – Train to Mt Fuji (approx. 4.5hour transfer)
  • ​12pm – Boxed Lunch
  • ​3pm – Painting at Lake Kawaguchi
  • ​7pm - Dinner in Mt Fuji
  • ​Accommodation in Mt Fuji (Hotels are limited, numbers over 40 would need to split over 2 hotels)

Day 9 - March 30th

  • 7.45am – Breakfast at Accommodation
  • ​9am – Painting at Shiraito Falls (approx. 45minute transfer)
  • ​12.00pm – Boxed Lunch
  • ​1pm – Painting at Lake Motosuko or Iyashi no Sato
  • ​4.30pm – Photo stop at Aokigahara, Suicide Forest
  • ​6.30pm - Dinner in Mt Fuji
  • ​Accommodation in Mt Fuji

Day 10 - March 31st

  • 8am – Breakfast at Accommodation and check out of Hotel
  • ​9am – Painting at either Mt Fuji Ropeway Viewing Deck or Oshino Hakkai
  • ​1pm – Coach transfer to Tokyo and Boxed Lunch
  • ​3pm – Arrive in Tokyo
  • ​6.30pm – Private Dinner in Tokyo – Display Paintings 
  • ​Accommodation in Tokyo

Day 11 - April 1st

  • 8am - Breakfast at Accommodation 
  • ​10am – Visit Pigment 
  • ​11am – Optional Calligraphy Lesson
  • ​Afternoon and evening at leisure for sightseeing and shopping
  • ​Group Dinner or own arrangements TBC
  • ​Accommodation in Tokyo

Day 12 - April 2nd

  • Breakfast at Accommodation
  • ​Time for Sight Seeing, as most flights depart late afternoon / early evening
  • ​Transfer to Haneda or Narita Airport
